Six Man Tag
Bruce Sheila & Lethal Dose vs. The Eastern Bloc
After a shakey start to life in England, Bruce finally managed to find some like minded friends in the form of Jack Toxic and Cyanide - Lethal Dose. The huge Cyanide along with his tag team partner returned to GPW for the first time in a tag team capacity since July 2009.
They joined Bruce Sheila in taking on the new huge fan favourites - The Eastern Bloc in a massive 6 man tag to open the show. The Bloc were met with some resistance in the early going as Sheila and Lethal Dose imposed their will in the opening stages of the match. Cyanide destroyed Vladimir Radkov with his signature "Chiropractors Dream", Jack Toxic hit his signature "77 Special" and Bruce Sheila connected with his "Out-Back-Breaker".
It wasn't until Eastern Bloc leader - Jac Domitrescu entered the ring with a house of fire that the match swung in favour of The Bloc.
The fans' hopes were raised as The Bloc excited the audience with displays of the type of gung-ho, passionate patriotism usually only seen in British born nationals. Kristov Eganski held a prone Jack Toxic aloft as his partner Jak Domitrescu climbed to the top rope and hit an awe inspiring back cracker on Toxic in a double team move The Bloc call "Red Terror".
The crowd rose to their feet in amazement to what surely looked to be the match winner, but Bruce Sheila intervened to break up the pin and prevent Eastern celebrations.
Mike Holmes Re-Appears
"100% Proof to 100% Prof."
In a surprise to everyone, Mike Holmes returned to GPW unannounced and in his new persona - Prof. Mike Holmes. The last time we saw Mike he was in the process of cleaning up his image from hardened drinker, benefit claimant dole queuer - "Iron" Mike Holmes to suit wearing, job holding, respectable "Sober" Mike Holmes.
But, the new suit wearing Mike Holmes had not been seen since July last year. He returned to the Ballroom to tell us what he's been doing.
Fans immediately embraced Prof. Mike as he began to tell them all that he'd gone back to school to re-do his GCSE's. It had sparked an interest in science and he had bought a home science kit to practice. Using potions, ingredients and the blood sweat and tears of wrestlers of the past he has been attempting to make "the perfect wrestler".
He said he hadn't yet succeeded in his new mission, and his experiments had resulted in several "mistakes". He announced that not only would some of those mistakes be entering the rumble, but they were all here with him tonight - introducing a tag team created by using oranges - Vitamin C joined Mike in the ring.
A man who was created out of skeletons and possess the power to crush a man's skull with his bare hands - The Skullcrusher also joined them. Mike then introduced someone he was "proud" of, as he'd travelled back in time to find The Nordic Warrior. And finally, Mike had accidentally used some of his own DNA to create a Mini "Iron" Mike Holmes.
The 5 new faces entered the GPW ring for the first time and despite their appearance, were cheered by the Monaco faithful!
But, it wasn't long before the cheers turned to boo's as GPW Heavyweight Champion - Juggernaut's music hit. He came to the ring with his attorney and law Alan A.A Tasker who berated Mike for wasting his time trying to make the perfect wrestler because there already was a perfect wrestler - Juggernaut.
As the Heavyweight champ entered the ring Mike tasked his little "mistakes" with taking the champ down.
Hair vs. Hair
William Gáylord vs. Danny Hope
With the scores at 1-1 heading into this match, the result of this would not only see the loser have his hair cut in the ring immediately after, but would also be the deciding victory in what's been a competitive rivalry this year. Both men pulled out all the stops as it went back and forth in the early goings.
Danny had Gáylord on the run right from the start when he pulled out a huge pair of garden shears and motioned toward Gáylord's flowing curls.
However, it was Gáylord who looked to have victory in his grasp when he bombarded Danny with his "Butterfly Collection Suplex" and "Eton Mess", but he couldn't quite put Hope away. After becoming frustrated with his opponent, Gáylord resorted to the method that had given him victory a month earlier - cheating.
While the referee had his backed turned, and Danny was laying hurt on the canvas, he picked up his signature cane lifted it above his head and walked with bad intentions over to Hope. However - just in the nick of time the referee realised the foreign object was in the ring and before Gáylord could strike Danny with it, the referee pulled it back resulting in Gáylord being trapped in between letting the cane go or trying to pull back off the referee.
DDL Interview
"Questions. Answered?"
The question on every bodies lips ahead of the exclusive DDL interview was "why?".
Fans wanted to know why "Dangerous" Damon Leigh had no-showed the previous month in his re-match for the title against Juggernaut. Damon answered honestly and said he'd felt like he'd let all his friends and family down when he lost the match for the title in February and he just couldn't bare to do it again. He'd lost his confidence and wasn't sure if he could step through the ropes as the man he once was. "A lot has changed over the years" Damon had said as he told the audience that the once young and care free risk taker was about to marry and start a family of his own and life's priorities change.
Despite the honest answers from DDL, it was with GPW ring announcer Sam Shaw's next question that posed more ambiguity over his future. He met DDL head on and asked him if there were any truth to the rumours surrounding his future and if he were going quit. Damon answered without ever really answering the question, he left the interview with his head hung, looking a shadow of his former self compared to his reigns as a multiple time British and Tag Team Champion. His final words in the interview spoke volumes as he said: "Maybe Alan Tasker is right, maybe i should just quit..." Damon walked away from the Monaco with the fans screaming "NO!!" but who knows what the next step for DDL will be.
No.1 Contenders 3-Way Eliminator Match
El Ligero vs. Cameron Kraze vs. Martin Kirby
The scheduled match for the No.1 Contenders match between El Ligero and Darkside unfortunately never took place. Darksides' travel from Glasgow had been delayed and in turn caused him to miss connecting transport to the Ballroom. However, in his place was not one opponent - but two.
Ligero wasn't aware of who his opponent would be when he arrived at The Monaco, nor as he made his entrance and stood in the ring. When the ring announcer announced Cameron Kraze to the ring his hopes to become the No.1 Contender may well have been dashed.
But the announcements weren't over there and his hopes were about to take another blow when Sam Shaw announced a third man in the match. "Hindley's Own" Martin Kirby made his entrance as the crowd spun with the possibilities this 3-way could throw up.
Kirby, a man who'd had his problems with Juggernaut in the past and come so close to becoming the GPW Heavyweight Champ. Ligero, who'd lost 12 months of his life due to the injury sustained at the hands of Juggernaut. And Cameron Kraze, a newcomer who had the backing of former Heavyweight Champ, Dirk Feelgood and his MasterPlan behind him.
And there was one more surprise for the participants and the crowd before the bell rung - the match was be competed under elimination rules. Who would be the last man standing?
After quick exchanges between the three men, The Masterplan's Kraze was able to control some of the early going nearly eliminating Ligero following his patented "Mafia Kick". However, attempts to hit his "Power Kraze-Bomb" were foiled and it was he who ended up being eliminated first via a double pin from Kirby and Ligero.
With Kraze gone from proceedings, the one upmanship began. Two fan favourites, Kirby and Ligero battled it out in a breathtaking one on one. Both men reversing each others signature moves with innovative and eye catching reversals only served to divide the crowd even more as they were left not knowing who to cheer for.
GPW Tag Team Title Match
The Mystics vs. Paradise Lost
Paradise Lost may well have thought they'd got the better of Voodoo and Suzuki when they jumped them as they made their entrance at "Jam Hot!". Both Heresy and LeVay wasted no time in taking out their challengers
The Mystics before the bell had even rung. The 4 men brawled across the Ballroom as officials struggled to contain them. With the upper hand eventually swinging The Mystics way, the crowd came alive. LeVay was taken out by Voodoo as he took to the skies and dived on the monster, before he and Suzuki displayed the type of workmanship and fluid tag team wrestling that had earnt them the title shot in the first place as they took Heresy out with the "Head Full Of Horrors Sequence".
Just as it looked like The Mystics were on a roll, LeVay hit the "Monster Smash" and Paradise Lost were back on top and slowed the No.1 Contenders down and began to isolate Voodoo.
The tag team champions showed their dominance as the pair came close to putting Voodoo away on a couple of occasions, but out of nowhere Voodoo escaped their grasp and made the tag to partner Suzuki... but, the referee didn't see the tag and The Mystics found themselves back to square one.
The crowd were up in arms as the finish looked inevitable when Heresy picked up Voodoo on his shoulders and LeVay scaled the top rope for their "Hell Bound" finisher, but just as LeVay was about to drive Voodoo's head to the mat, Suzuki grabbed hold of his foot preventing him hitting the bulldog a
Si Valour joins the MasterPlan?
In one of the most unpredictable segments in GPW history, a changed Simon Valour came through the curtain dressed in a suit ready to address the fans and his tag team partner, Dylan Roberts who he'd turned his back on the previous month.
Delivering a speech from a mic stand in the middle of the ring Valour tore into the same fans who'd supported him since his debut in March 2007, professing not to be like them and never wanting to be like them, they were sheep and he was nothing like them.
The people had assumed he was fighting for them when really, he was fighting for himself. He put Dylan Roberts in the same class as his former fans saying he too was a sheep having fought in an unjust war because someone had told him to.
He went on to rant that his association with Dylan had done nothing but drag him down and he wasn't going to stand for it any longer - he went onto praise his own academic achievements before offering himself as a third member in The MasterPlan.
His offer prompted the leader of The MasterPlan, Dirk Feelgood along with MasterPlan member Cameron Kraze out to the ring.
GPW British Title 2/3 Falls To A Finish Match
Joey Hayes vs. "The Juice" CJ Banks
In the final showdown between two of the standout performers in the country - it couldn't have been more dramatic! The close rivalry between these two had meant that a simple one fall to a finish was never going to be good enough. To settle this Joey Hayes the challenger took on Juice the defending champion in a 2 out of 3 falls thriller.
Joey had Banks on the backfoot from the off taking the fight to the champ knocking him down with picture perfect dropkicks and lightening fast fists, the crowd ralleighed behind Joey for the win whilst they stayed united in their jeers for CJ. The relentless crowd support was compounded further when Joey's early momentum meant the first blood went in his favour. Catching the champ with his patenent "Hang Time" cross body Joey went 1-0 up. Advantage, Hayes.
However, it didn't take Banks long before he levelled up the scores by catching Joey Hayes out with his own top rope feat in the form of his version of the Frogsplash. The falls were now at 1-1. Deuce.
It was now in the matches final stages where the next fall was the all important one and the drama really started to heat up. Juice targeted Hayes' ribs as the focal point of his attack. Driving the air out of his lungs as an attempt by Joey at his "Teenage Kick" was reversed into Juice's impressive trio of German suplexes.
Not content there, Banks went onto squeeze the life out of the challengers body in a painful body scissors making it near impossible for Hayes to catch his breath, Juice stayed on him.
However, despite being in obvious pain, Hayes battled on managing to knock CJ down for close falls on several occasions. The crowd still believed. Joey finally managed to connect with a "Teenage Kick" and score a 2 and 3/4ers count over the champ. A count too close for someone watching in the back...
Juice's personal trainer - Fox Carter. Carter who'd been conspicious in his absence all evening could take no more and made his presence felt as he burst through the curtain and interjected himself into the action costing Joey a surefire 3 count victory.
The fight quickly became unfair, but Joey's ally, a man who had been wrangled in a feud with Fox Carter for much of this year - Martin Kirby evened up the odds.
