Another Great British Wrestling DVD from GPW, recorded live at the Monaco Ballroom, Hindley.
After a warm welcome from the ring announcer Sam Shaw in front of a sell out crowd at the Monaco Ballroom, it was time to see GPW once again seize the day, without further ado onto the opening match.
Martin Kirby vs Cyanide
New GPW superstar kicked off the show with an impressive performance against the monstrous Cyanide. This was a grudge match of sorts because at the last show Kirby defeated Cyanides partner in crime, Jack Toxic. In the early going, Kirby tried everything he could to knock the big man of his feet but it was not to be as Cyanide then took control with a little help from AAA Tasker and Jack Toxic.
Heresy vs The Great Suzuki
Heresy was back in action after opening the show last month with an win over Chris Echo but that doesn’t seem to have improved his mood at all as he battered Suzuki throughout the match with a succession of punches and slams. At one point Voodoo tried to help his new associate but Heresy responded by drop kicking Voodoo to the floor below.
Luke Marsden made an appearance, but Jiggy Walker interrupted to give him abuse. Danny Hope came out to make the save then challenged his former partner to a match. Jiggy teased accepting, but bailed. Hope chased, got a few shots in, then the entire locker-room prevented a continued brawl but Danny promised he would settle the score with his former ally at the next show, Living on the Edge, March 20th.
The Young Offenders vs The Eastern Bloc (Jak & Kristov)
The Young Offenders took a light hearted approach to the match in the early going, embarrassing the Bloc with the dreaded rowing machine move and also Damon pushed Jack over who then fell over Joey Hayes who was behind Jack. The match soon got serious however when Joey made a mistake and the Bloc isolated Joey from Damon. The crowd rallied behind the new trophy holders giving Joey the strength to make the tag to DDL who hit the ring and cleaned house.
The Juice vs Si Valour
After the interval it was time for the British title contract signing featuring the champion, Sam Bailey and the number 1 contender, the Juice. Before Juice could put pen to paper however, Si Valour hit the ring and challenged Juice to put his status on the line one more time against him. Juice agreed and the match was on.
William Gaylord vs Ricky J McKenzie
In the penultimate match of the evening it was time for the debut of the top 2 graduates in the GPW training school who did not disappoint. William Gaylord was the cockier of the two men, who seemingly revealed in the dirty tactics he employed throughout the match. Ricky McKenzie was the high flier and the more charismatic of the trainees who won over the fans not long after the opening bell. Both men opened the bout with some textbook chain wrestling but their individuality soon shone through as William tried to keep the bout on the mat while Ricky used several aerial type moves for near falls.
Bubblegum vs Dirk Feelgood
Main event time next and what a main event it was. There was clearly no doubt how much these two men hated each other and it did not take long for the bout to spill out into the crowd where the two brawled among the fans. At one point Bubblegum even used the wall of the venue to his advantage as a springboard to attack his challenger. There were soon some worried faces in the Ballroom as Dirk and Bubblegum brawled on the balcony and tragedy almost struck when Bubblegum fell from the ledge! Displaying an unprecedented display of tenacity and sheer determination, this did not stop the champion who continued to fight with Dirk as the two found themselves back in the ring. Dirk and Bubblegum gave it everything they had!
